Job Description

High School Ownership Instructor

Part-Time | Brownsville and Canarsie, Brooklyn | December 2026–June 2027 | $50-$65/hour

Bring possibility into the classroom.

Ownership Is The Future is looking for an exceptional educator, counselor, or school-based youth-development professional to lead our ownership and entrepreneurship elective in a Brooklyn or Southwest Bronx high school .

We are looking for someone who understands high schools from the inside—the rhythms, relationships, personalities, pressures, and possibilities—and knows how to connect with students in a way that makes them want to participate.

Our students are not coming to class simply to learn about entrepreneurship. They are learning to see their ideas, identities, relationships, creativity, and lived experiences as assets they can use to shape their futures.

What You’ll Do

\n
• Lead an engaging school-day elective focused on ownership, entrepreneurship, financial empowerment, and real-world application.
\n
• Build a classroom culture where students feel known, respected, challenged, and excited to create.
\n
• Help students discover their strengths, develop business ideas, solve problems, and bring projects to life.
\n
• Make OITF’s curriculum come alive through conversation, projects, coaching, experimentation, and real-world connections.
\n
• Build strong relationships with students while collaborating effectively with school staff and the OITF team.
\n

We’d Love to Meet You If You…

\n
• Have spent considerable time working inside high schools as a teacher, counselor, advisor, dean, program leader, or similar role.
\n
• Understand how to read a classroom, build trust, and engage students with different personalities and levels of motivation.
\n
• Can bring energy, optimism, structure, and possibility into a school environment.
\n
• Believe deeply in the potential of Black and Brown young people.
\n
• Can help students imagine futures they may not yet be able to see for themselves.
\n
• Are excited about entrepreneurship and ownership as tools for agency, opportunity, and economic mobility.
\n

Schedule: School-day elective in Brownsville and Canarsie, Brooklyn , meeting throughout the school week.

Compensation: $65/hour

We are looking for someone who can do more than deliver a lesson. We want someone who can connect with students, shift what feels possible, and help their ownership potential come alive.
