About the Role:
As a Computer Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the technological infrastructure of our organization. Your primary objective will be to diagnose, repair, and maintain computer systems and related hardware to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. You will work closely with end-users to provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential system vulnerabilities and recommending upgrades or improvements. Ultimately, your expertise will contribute to a seamless and efficient computing environment that supports the organization's operational goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or technical certification in Computer Technology or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in computer hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and peripheral device configuration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent technical certification.
- Experience with enterprise-level IT support and ticketing systems.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies and cloud services.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
Responsibilities:
- Provides first-level help desk support, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues for end users.
- Logs, tracks, and resolves IT service requests through the ticketing system and supports help desk operations.
- Respond to help desks requests through the ticketing system, ensuring timely and effective customer service.
Assists in maintaining IT systems and infrastructure, including networks, applications, and communication systems.
- Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots computers, printers, and other peripheral equipment.
- Documents technical procedures, updates, and support activities; communicates system changes to users.
- Collaborates with IT staff and departments to support organizational technology needs and improve services.
Skills:
The required skills enable the technician to effectively diagnose and resolve a wide range of hardware and software issues, ensuring minimal disruption to users. Proficiency in operating systems allows for efficient system configuration and troubleshooting. Networking knowledge supports the setup and maintenance of connected devices and peripherals. Preferred skills such as certifications and cybersecurity awareness enhance the technician's ability to handle complex technical challenges and safeguard organizational assets. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential for interacting with users, understanding their issues, and providing clear, helpful guidance.
Working Conditions
This position works in a fast-paced environment requiring extended periods of computer use, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks within tight timelines. Work is primarily performed in an office or clinical setting. The role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds, as well as occasionally work in confined spaces when installing or maintaining equipment.
Travel up to 50% is required, including trips to remote village locations using various modes of transportation such as small aircraft, boats, ATVs, or snowmobiles.
