Basic Job Functions: As a structural design engineer, you will specialize in designing fabricated products, systems, and/or structures to withstand various loads and/or environmental conditions. Basic job functions are as follows: Creative Design : Provide structural engineering services and guidance for internal Nucor divisions including the design/analysis of conventional steel structures, connections, truss & box girders, lifting devices, reinforcement details, and basic foundations. Technical Analysis : Use structural engineering principles and our proprietary software to design steels joists and joist girders to ensure public safety. Collaborative Approach : Work closely with Detailing, Shop Order, and Production teammates to ensure quality and on-time delivery of products. Commercial Focus : Promote our products by being involved in business development activities such as direct engagement with industry professionals, delivering lunch-and-learn presentations, and being an exhibitor at trade shows. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications: BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam prior to hire date Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future) Preferred Qualifications: PE license or desire, ability, and dedication to obtain a license MS in Civil/Structural Engineering Familiarity with metal building systems and MBMA common practices, current building codes, and AISC specification Nucor is an Equal Opportunity Employer and a drug-free workplace #J-18808-Ljbffr
