Payment Operations Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented professional for a position focused on payment operations. This role involves handling various payment processes while ensuring adherence to risk and compliance standards. The position requires critical thinking to analyze and resolve complex payment scenarios efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and support a variety of payment transactions, including wire transfers, cashier's checks, faster payments, and Western Union transactions.
• Review payment requests and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Perform required compliance checks, including OFAC screening, fraud prevention controls, and adherence to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements.
• Investigate payment exceptions, discrepancies, and operational issues, identifying root causes and implementing timely resolutions.
• Escalate potential fraud, compliance concerns, or operational risks as appropriate.
• Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve payment-related inquiries and provide transaction status updates.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance payment operations and reduce risk.

Required Qualifications

• Experience supporting payment operations, banking operations, financial services, or a related environment.
• Knowledge of wire transfers, cashier's checks, faster payments, Western Union transactions, and related payment processes.
• Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements, including OFAC, BSA, AML, and fraud prevention controls.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to resolve complex payment issues.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing financial transactions and documentation.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within a credit union, banking, or financial institution.
• Familiarity with payment processing systems and operational risk controls.
• Experience handling payment investigations, exception processing, or fraud-related reviews.
