HVAC Technician III

Amentum is seeking an HVAC Technician III to join our team in East Peoria, IL. Typical work schedule 8:30AM-5:00PM with overtime possible. Rotating weekend on‑call hours will be scheduled to support the client. Responsibilities Under general supervision the technician masters advanced duties of a specialized/technical nature. The role includes diagnosing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing heating and ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, compressors and other mechanical equipment. The technician utilizes strong mechanical and electrical skills to complete assignments, performs preventive maintenance on HVAC control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance, and analyzes and resolves work problems. Safety is a priority; the technician follows proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures and PPE. The role coordinates work with outside contractors, ensures code and building standards are met, serves as a resource to others in resolving complex issues, performs all other position‑related duties as assigned, and reports problems to leadership and management. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent. 3 years of experience in the HVAC specialization. EPA608 Universal Certificate. Ability to work out of an aerial lift 30ft or higher. Additional Information Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre‑employment substance abuse test. The position requires a valid driver’s license and does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization. The role requires obtaining a security access badge at the client’s location and may involve various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules. Physical Requirements Regularly lift up to 50lbs. Climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during the shift. Bend, stoop, squat and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift. Use various man‑lifting devices to reach work areas. Kneel repeatedly during the shift. Move in a 90‑degree rotational fashion repetitively during the shift. Stretch and reach on a repetitive basis during the shift. Walk extensively throughout the plant during the shift. Use a company or client‑approved utility knife. Differentiate colors related to wire color‑coding. Perform repetitive wrist movements. Interact professionally and friendly with all clients despite periods of stress. Use aerial lifting equipment. Special Requirements Wearing steel‑toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves (multiple types based on the work), hard hats and other personal protective equipment as needed. The worker must cope with job‑related stresses to maintain acceptable performance and overall contribution. Other Attributes Willingness to work overtime when required and willingness to work holidays and weekends. Compensation Details $25.00–$30.00 per hour. The compensation range is a good‑faith estimate and may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
