Light Rail Vehicle Maintenance TechnicianEnsure Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) operational performance and safety by performing skilled maintenance and repairs on electrical, electronic and mechanical systems. This position is designated as safety-sensitive and is subject to the Valley Metro RPTA's Drug and Alcohol Program.The anticipated starting pay rate is between ($29.96) and midpoint ($37.45) of the range. It's essential to note that the actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on several factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, education, certifications, training and internal equity considerations.Minimum Qualifications & RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED.Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in electro-mechanical maintenance, including: Electrical and electronic diagnostics and repair; Troubleshooting and repair of complex multi-component electro-mechanical systems; andOr an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the jobAdditional education cannot be substituted for experienceHuman Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified candidates to the selection processLicensing, Certification and Other Requirements:Background investigationJob-related medical examination.Pre-employment drug test. Detailed understanding of safe work practicesSkill in:Inspecting rail systems using schematicsTroubleshooting complex electrical, electronic and mechanical multi-system componentsUpdating software to ensure system functionalityDocumenting maintenance activities thoroughlyCleaning tools and equipment properlyAssisting peers across technical disciplinesResponding quickly to emergenciesCommunication and interpersonal skills to exchange information and receive work directionPhysical Demands / Work EnvironmentWork is performed in a combination of office/vehicle/outdoor setting with routine use of standard office and specialty equipment. This role is sedentary requiring the physical exertion of up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time. This role typically requires sitting, handling, fine dexterity, visual acuity, hearing, speaking, walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, kneeling, bending, climbing, reaching, twisting, crouching, balancing, crawling, noisy/distracting environment, foot controls, time pressure, tedious or exacting work, changing of tasks, multi-tasking, emergency situation, irregular work schedule/overtime, noisy/distracting environment and working with others on a team.
