Job Summary This role offers the chance to sharpen media relations skills, hone storytelling, and drive impact in the communities that Optimum serves. You will work directly with reporters, drive impact internally through Optimum's weekly all‑employee newsletter, and support the company's community‑driven initiatives. While not directly on our social media content development team, we seek a team player who watches the latest social and cultural trends and partners with our integrated marketing team. Responsibilities Media Relations Research and maintain media lists, monitor coverage, and flag opportunities for the team. Help coordinate outreach to local and national reporters, including drafting creative pitches and tracking responses. Contribute to media reports and recaps that summarize results and learnings from announcements. Stakeholder and Community Engagement Support planning and logistics for PR‑related community events and recognition moments. Assist with developing remarks and talking points for external, community‑focused events and engagements. Work closely with community affairs and government affairs to ensure alignment with planning and execution of community moments. Internal Communications Assist with creating and publishing the company's weekly all‑employee newsletter across internal channels. Source and compile interesting stories across the company to share via the newsletter. Coordinate reviews, routing, and approvals to keep projects on track and ensure consistency of message and tone. Execution & Innovation Bring proactive ideas and editorial thinking to the table, constantly looking for new ways to elevate engagement and impact. Show curiosity in team meetings by identifying story ideas, content opportunities, and process improvements. Respond quickly and thoughtfully to evolving business needs with speed, clarity, and agility. Maintain a strong bias toward action, quick iteration, and continuous improvement. Qualifications What We're Looking For: 1‑3 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or related fields (in‑house or agency). Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a keen eye for tone, clarity, and audience. Experience with core media relations tactics such as drafting pitches, researching outlets, pitching reporters, and monitoring coverage. Collaborative teammate with a willingness to learn, take feedback, and support others in a fast‑moving environment. Organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple assignments with direction and feedback. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $64,260.00‑$105,570.00 per year.
