Position Title: Accounting Manager

Department: Accounting and Finance

Reports To: Controller

FLSA Status: Salary/Exempt, Full-Time, Benefited

Compensation Details: $130k-$150k (experience dependent)

Position Summary:

The Accounting team manages all aspects of day-to-day general ledger accounting and period-end close responsibilities including the compilation and distribution of internal financial reporting. The Accounting Manager owns the monthly accounting close, supervises the accounting staff and helps maintain discipline and rigor across the accounting and reporting processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the accounting staff.

Travel:
Travel is not typical for this position but may be required at times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Own the accounting close, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in line with generally accepted accounting standards.
• Prepare account analysis and reconciliations of balance sheet and P&L accounts.
• Research and interpret accounting rules to ensure compliance with US GAAP
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Strengthen internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
• Drive process improvements to make financial operations faster, smoother, and more scalable.
• Partner with teams across Sonic to simplify financial processes, provide insights that drive better decision-making and elevate financial understanding across the company.
• Support audits and regulatory requirements, working closely with external auditors and internal teams.
• Participate in special projects, analysis and other ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• 8-10 years of experience in the accounting profession, with public accounting or public company experience preferred
• CPA strongly preferred
• BA or BS degree
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in accounting software (SAP preferred)
• Proven ability to lead and manage small teams (3-4 people), including setting clear goals and objectives, providing guidance, and ensuring team members have the resources and support needed to achieve results
• Proven ability to foster a positive work environment through collaboration, inclusion and employee engagement
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to think strategically and provide financial insights to support business decisions
• Capable of performing effectively in a high-pressure setting with strict deadlines
• A proactive and organized self-starter, skilled at multitasking and detail oriented
• Ability to be a team player, and ability to work well in both in-person and remote work environments

Work Environment:

This position operates in a typical office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a laptop computer, and smartphone. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
