If he/she cannot offer assistance, then finds someone who can.\n Advocates to ensure privacy and confidentiality while helping others to maintain awareness.\n Maintains a clean and safe hospital.\n Responds appropriately and immediately in emergency situations.\n Maintains a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors, and/or staff to provide the highest level of physical comfort, and minimize risk and injury.\n Ensures compliance with regulations to maintain accreditation and licensure.\n Complies with the Hospital Attendance and Tardiness Policy.\n Completed all Hospital and Department Specific Mandatory requirements in the prior calendar year.\n Reports Incidents in a timely and effective manner.\n All employees with direct patient contact are responsible for actively engaging in the practice of, monitoring and enforcing compliance to hand hygiene.\n Assesses (and reassesses), plans, implements, and evaluates nursing interventions/plans of care/patient goals.\n Provides patient care based on standards of care, standards of practice, protocols, and established policies and procedures.\n Respects each patient as an individual; provides care that fosters the patient’s sense of dignity and positive self-regard.\n Provides patient/family teaching based on identified learning needs, readiness to learn, and barriers to learning.\n Collaboratively plans and prepares patient/family for discharge incorporating support systems/resources as necessary.\n Appropriately delegates and supervises nursing interventions performed by others.\n Appropriately prioritizes patient care (e.g. seeks assistance as needed from appropriate resources, reassigns personnel as necessary, recognizes need for emergency intervention, etc.).\n Provides thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions and patient responses according to established standards.\n Provides timely and thorough report on assigned patients to other health care team members to ensure integration of services and continuity of patient care.\n Promotes learning for colleagues and self (e.g. functions as preceptor, instructor, trainer, attends professional development programs, etc.).\n Proactively identifies risk to patient safety and identifies opportunities to reduce medical/health care errors (i.e. appropriate reporting of errors/incidents).\n Identifies ethical issues in care and develops plan to address.\n Safely administers medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician’s orders, protocols, policies and procedures.\n Assesses patient pain level upon admission and as necessary, depending upon diagnosis utilizing the numerical pain scale.\n Reassesses effectiveness of pain control and notifies physicians as needed, as well as, documents assessment and patients’ response to medication.\n Responsible for obtaining supporting information and completing required documentation related to medication reconciliation for use by the Attending MD.\n Collaborates with surgeon, anesthesiologist, clinical coordinator and surgical technicians to assure the patients’ well being during surgical intervention.\n Maintains sterile fields and directs the correct care, handling, and sterilization of sterile supplies and instruments.\n Identifies patients correctly by checking patient identification bands and consent forms as well as verifying operative procedure and site before taking patients to the operating room.\n Applies principles of aseptic practice, oversees the selection and preparation of supplies, equipment and instrumentation to all surgical cases.\n Applies principles of body mechanics and adapts them to various situations during positioning and transfer of patients.\n Assures that all techniques and practices carried out during the surgical procedure are accurate and reflect standards of perioperative practice.\n Maintains sponge, needle and instrument counts according to policies and procedures, including notifying the surgeon of the result of the counts.\n Identifies, labels, cares for and handles all specimens and cultures according to established policy and procedure.\n \n Job Requirements\n Minimum Education\n \n Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.\n \n Minimum Work Experience\n \n O.R. nursing experience and CNOR strongly preferred.\n \n RequiredLicenses\n \n Current MA RN license. \n ACLS upon hire OR must hold an active BLS card and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire\n \n Required Skills\n \n Ability to function in an environment with competing priorities is a must.\n Ideal candidate must possess excellent communication skills, ability to multitask and have a can-do attitude. \n #299799\n Harris\n \n \n #299799About First Connect Health\n \n At First Connect Health, we take pride in being a Joint Commission–certified healthcare staffing agency, headquartered in Newark, New Jersey.
