Advanced Emergency Room RN | Clinical Nurse II

Position Overview This Emergency Department Registered Nurse at the Clinical Nurse II level plays a crucial role in delivering compassionate, patient-focused care within a dynamic emergency setting. The role demands advanced clinical skills, specialized certifications, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and optimal health outcomes. Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates must pass physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment.
- Patient Care:
- Lead coordination of the healthcare team to provide safe, timely, and equitable care tailored to individual patient needs.
- Perform thorough patient assessments and develop personalized care plans.
- Monitor patient responses to interventions and ensure prompt follow-up.
- Advocate for patients, maintaining their dignity and confidentiality.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of care delivered by the team and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and lifestyle changes.
- Promote evidence-based practices within emergency care.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain a clean, safe environment adhering to infection control and institutional policies.
- Strictly follow aseptic techniques and regulatory standards including OSHA and The Joint Commission guidelines.
- Identify and report safety concerns, actively participating in systemic improvements.
- Documentation:
- Accurately document all care activities, patient progress, and incidents in electronic medical records.
- Professional Development and Leadership:
- Mentor and precept new nurses and students, supporting their growth.
- Engage in ongoing education, certifications, and quality improvement projects.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for best practices within the emergency department.
- Perform triage and charge nurse duties as needed.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Respond decisively and calmly in critical situations such as cardiac arrest, demonstrating advanced clinical expertise.
- Minimum two years as a Registered Nurse in an emergency department or acute care setting; urgent care experience may be considered.
- Proven ability to manage complex clinical cases.
- Proficient with advanced critical care equipment and technology.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology related to critical care.
- Excellent critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and patient engagement.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with five years emergency nursing experience may be accepted.
- Current Registered Nurse license.
- Valid BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification or equivalent within 90 days of hire.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification preferred.
Successful candidates must pass physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment.
