HHS Enginering Teacher

Starting Date: Immediately Position: Project Lead the Way Engineering Teacher Location: HUNTINGTOWN HIGH SCHOOL, Huntingtown, Maryland Reports to: School Principal Position Summary: Project Lead the Way Engineering is a five course CTE program. To be a program completer, students must take all five courses. However, some students may elect to only take some of the courses. Generally, students will take the first course, Introduction to Engineering Design, in the ninth grade. As tenth graders, students will take the second course, Principles of Engineering. In eleventh grade, students will take two courses, Aerospace Engineering and Digital Electronics. In twelfth grade they will take Engineering Design and Development. Gateway to Technology is the middle school companion program to Project Lead the Way Engineering.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

A Maryland Standard Professional Teacher Certificate or Advanced Professional Teacher Certificate with preference in the area(s) of secondary science, secondary mathematics, and/or technology education.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication. Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to students, teachers, staff, central office personnel, and community members. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable. Demonstrates success in accomplishing tasks akin to those responsibilities listed below. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND DUTIES: Participates in core training and workshops related to the delivery of the Project Lead the Way curriculum. Implements the Project Lead the Way curriculum with fidelity. Implements the Project Lead the Way online student registration and online course assessments. Provides leadership to the Project Lead the Way community partnership committee. Plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. Supervises students in a variety of school-related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community. Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of children. Strives to improve professional competence through staff development. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. Serves on special committees related to Project Lead the Way. OTHER DUTIES: Performs related work as required or assigned by the school principal or designee. UNUSUAL DEMANDS: May be subject to a flexible work schedule. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten (10) month position and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current Calvert County Public Schools salary schedule for teachers. If selected for this position, the candidate must enroll in direct deposit. FLSA STATUS: Exempt. EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION: Prior to the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.
