Senior Managing Director

O2 Employment Services is partnering with a local non-profit to find their next Senior Managing Director in Redding, CA. This is a senior-level leadership opportunity for an experienced professional who can oversee organizational operations, financial management, personnel, strategic partnerships, and long-term growth while supporting CDA's wildlife conservation mission. The ideal candidate will have extensive executive or senior management experience, a strong background in nonprofit financial operations, and the ability to work closely with a Board of Directors. This position requires a hands‑on leader who is financially knowledgeable, highly organized, and comfortable balancing big‑picture strategy with day‑to‑day operations. Executive Director – Compensation & Schedule $110,000–$140,000 annually, DOE Full-time, exempt position Based in Redding, CA Occasional evenings and weekends for meetings, events, and organizational activities Executive Director – Responsibilities Provide executive leadership and oversight of organizational operations, personnel, financial management, and strategic initiatives Oversee multi‑million‑dollar budgets, financial reporting, forecasting, cash flow, and organizational financial performance Coordinate annual financial audits, including Single Audits when applicable, and work directly with accountants, CPAs, and financial advisors Work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to establish priorities, implement initiatives, and provide financial and operational reporting Lead, supervise, and support staff while establishing performance expectations, accountability, and organizational goals Develop and improve internal policies, procedures, financial controls, and administrative systems Oversee organizational contracts, insurance, benefits administration, vendor relationships, and regulatory compliance Provide leadership and coordination across conservation, habitat, fundraising, membership, and partnership programs Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, conservation organizations, donors, corporate partners, and community stakeholders Monitor funding, restricted funds, program expenses, contracts, and reporting requirements Identify opportunities to improve organizational efficiency, financial sustainability, and long‑term growth Ensure organizational initiatives and Board‑approved priorities are carried through to completion Executive Director – Qualifications - PLEASE READ! Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field required Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience, including at least 2 years in senior management or executive leadership Demonstrated experience managing multi‑million‑dollar organizational or program budgets Strong background in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and internal controls Experience coordinating financial audits and working directly with accounting professionals Previous experience working directly with a Board of Directors or comparable governing body Proven ability to supervise professional staff, manage performance, and establish accountability Experience developing and implementing organizational policies, procedures, and operational systems Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and analytical skills Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout California Executive Director – Preferred Qualifications 7+ years of experience in nonprofit, association, conservation, government, or comparable organizational leadership 4+ years in an Executive Director, COO, CFO, Deputy Executive Director, or comparable senior leadership role Experience with independent financial audits, Single Audits, and Board‑level financial reporting Background overseeing fundraising, membership, donor relations, or organizational development Experience in wildlife conservation, natural resources, outdoor recreation, land management, or agriculture Master's degree in a related field, CPA designation, or other relevant professional credential Executive Director – Application Requirements Applicants must submit the following for consideration: Current resume Three professional references The cover letter must specifically address the applicant's direct experience with: Financial oversight of a multi‑million‑dollar organization or program Working directly with a Board of Directors or governing body Supervising professional staff and managing performance and accountability Applicants who do not demonstrate substantial experience in these areas may not be considered.
