Georgia State University Job Overview Position: Kitchen Mechanic Location: PantherDining Hall, Atlanta Campus Department: Auxiliary & Support Services Key Responsibilities Execute the Dining Services Preventative Maintenance program for all commercial kitchen equipment and HVAC-R components. Manage inventory, record keeping, and procurement of materials and parts. Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work area. Perform quick repairs to minimize downtime. Schedule and execute repairs across PantherDining locations in accordance with regulations. Communicate and coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure timely service. Document maintenance activities and manage accurate maintenance reports. Assist Property Control with equipment labeling. Track and report repair costs, maintaining budget expectations. Follow up on billing and receivables. Maintain Purchase Card transactions in compliance with University and State guidelines. Keep required trade-specific training and certifications current. Participate in continuous process improvements. Perform administrative tasks such as file maintenance, paperwork, data entry, and system monitoring. Represent and promote the mission of Auxiliary and Support Services within the organization. Deliver excellent customer service. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED and four years of experience working with commercial kitchen equipment. Valid Georgia driver’s license. Refrigerant certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification within six months of employment. Preferred Requirements HVACR certification. EPA certification. Experience with electrical and plumbing systems. Experience with commercial kitchen equipment. Knowledge of safety regulations. Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and climb ladders; lift up to 35 pounds. Ability to work in all temperature conditions. Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends. Team player with strong time management, adaptability, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Salary and Benefits Anticipated Hiring Range: $50,100–$62,600 (based on qualifications and Minimum Hiring Standards).
