24/7 Water Utilities Parts Expediter

Weekend and after hour work may be required. This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/emergencies, requiring work after hours, emergency call back hours, nights, weekends, holidays and participation in an on‑call rotation schedule. Fort Worth Water is hiring a Parts Expediter to support its Field Operations Division by ensuring the timely procurement, delivery, and inventory control of vital materials and equipment. Utility Supply Chain Inventory Control Field Operations Logistics Maximo & Procurement In this role, you will coordinate day‑to‑day supply operations—managing warehouse inventory, maintaining vendor relationships, and expediting urgent requests that keep our water and wastewater systems running 24/7. You will source parts for a broken valve, organize restocks after a storm response, and directly support Fort Worth’s essential infrastructure. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED certification Specialized training in inventory management, accounting, purchasing, or related field Three (3) years of experience in purchasing, sales, or inventory control Possession of, or ability to obtain, a forklift operator certification Must be able to work a 24‑hour emergency call‑back rotating schedule, including overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Possess a valid driver’s license Must be able to pass a physical exam, drug screen, and background verification Preferred Qualifications Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, PeopleSoft, and Maximo or similar systems Excellent written communication skills Five (5)+ years of experience in procurement of goods and services Previous experience in the utilities, mechanical, or construction industry Working Conditions And Physical Demand Heavy work—depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly. The general job functions include touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, and workspace restrictions.
