Irrigation Technician

Irrigation Technician Position Summary The Irrigation Crew Lead is responsible for overseeing and participating in the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial irrigation systems. This position leads a crew in daily operations, ensures quality workmanship, maintains safety standards, and promotes efficiency and productivity on all job sites. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervise and lead irrigation crew members on daily job assignments Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation systems, including controllers, valves, sprinkler heads, drip systems, and pumps Read and interpret irrigation plans and blueprints Ensure proper system programming and water management practices Perform seasonal services such as system start-ups, winterizations, and inspections Train and mentor crew members on proper installation techniques and safety procedures Monitor job progress to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget Maintain accurate job records, material usage, and daily reports Communicate effectively with management, clients, and team members Enforce company safety policies and ensure proper use of PPE Operate company vehicles, trailers, and equipment safely Qualifications 3+ years of irrigation installation and repair experience Previous crew leadership or supervisory experience preferred Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, components, and troubleshooting techniques Ability to read blueprints and irrigation layouts Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record Ability to operate trenchers, pipe pullers, and other equipment Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly Physical Requirements Prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and digging Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet conditions Ability to lift and carry irrigation materials and equipment Work Schedule Full-time position. Overtime and weekend work may be required during peak season.
