- Experience assessing detox symptoms
- MedSurg experience
- Phlebotomy skills
- Experience obtaining EKGs


Description:
The unit has a capacity of 23 patients.
Nurse-patient ratios are not defined, as this is a voluntary unit with stable patients managed by counselors.
Registered Nurses handle admissions, medications, and any medical issues that may arise.
Common diagnoses include individuals aged 18 and older rehabbing from substance use disorders.
Patients exhibiting behavioral issues may be discharged, while those needing psychiatric evaluation will be transferred.
Experience in MedSurg is prioritized, although psychiatric experience is preferred.
IVs are generally not used on this unit, but may be started during a medical emergency.
Electronic medical records are managed using Allscripts.
Charge nurses and house supervisors are available during business hours on-site; outside of these hours, they are available via phone.
Physical restraints are not utilized on this unit, as it is entirely voluntary.
No nursing assistants or mental health specialists are present.
Respiratory Therapy is not available on-site, and any treatments or oxygen needs are managed by RNs.
EKGs will be performed by RNs if necessary.
Every other weekend and one holiday per season are required.
Staff may float to a sister unit or a clinic if there is a need and corresponding experience.
Scrub colors are designated by role.
A unit-specific orientation will span 5 days on the floor.
This position does not require a BSN.
