Junior Field Service Technician-- CNC Machine Tools

Position Overview

We are seeking a mechanically inclined Junior Field Service Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of CNC machine tools at customer manufacturing facilities across North America.

This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on technician with at least 3 years of CNC machine maintenance, repair, or troubleshooting experience who wants to advance their technical skills and build a long-term career in field service.

The selected candidate will work alongside experienced service professionals, receive training on specialized machine tools, and gradually transition to handling service assignments independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation, commissioning, and startup of CNC machine tools.

• Perform preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, and routine servicing.

• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and basic electrical problems.

• Support machine alignment, setup, calibration, and adjustment activities.

• Diagnose equipment issues using appropriate tools and test equipment.

• Read and interpret technical documentation, equipment drawings, and service manuals.

• Travel to customer sites to perform repairs, maintenance, and technical service work.

• Prepare accurate service reports and maintain service documentation.

• Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment issues and service activities.

• Collaborate with senior technicians and engineers to develop expertise in CNC machine tool systems.

Required Qualifications

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in CNC machine maintenance, equipment servicing, repair, or troubleshooting.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.

• Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment testing procedures.

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and service documentation.

• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 90-95% of the time, including overnight and international travel.

• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.

• Valid driver's license.

• Ability to work independently at customer sites and adapt to changing service requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience servicing CNC machine tools for an OEM, distributor, dealer, or industrial service organization.

• Familiarity with Fanuc, Siemens, or Mitsubishi CNC controls.

• Previous field service experience involving industrial machinery or manufacturing equipment.

• Experience with equipment installation, commissioning, startup, or alignment.

• Basic electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

• Experience with horizontal machining centers.

• Military technical training or military service combined with relevant CNC experience.

Compensation and Benefits

• Competitive base salary with overtime eligibility for hours worked beyond 38.75 hours per week.

• Travel per diem: $60 per day on weekdays and $120 per day on weekends while traveling.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on CNC or industrial maintenance technician who enjoys diagnosing mechanical problems, working directly with customers, and traveling extensively. Candidates with strong mechanical skills, basic electrical troubleshooting experience, and a willingness to learn specialized CNC equipment are encouraged to apply.

Important: This role requires extensive travel, so candidates must be comfortable spending most of their working time at customer locations throughout North America.
