Sr. QA Engineer, Caper (Hardware + Software Integration)

Job Title : Sr. QA Engineer, Caper (Hardware + Software Integration)

Location : Remote

Duration : 12-Month Contract (Likely Extension)

Overview:

Senior QA Engineer to support their AI-powered smart shopping cart platform. This is a backfill opening on a growing team focused on testing the hardware and software that powers Caper carts deployed across major grocery retailers.

This is a highly hands-on mobile QA role with a strong emphasis on Android testing. While automation experience is a plus, the position is primarily focused on manual testing.

Must-Have Requirements:

5+ years of QA/Test Engineering experience
Strong Mobile QA background, specifically Android
Experience testing Android core applications
Strong Android debugging skills:
ADB
Logcat
UIAutomator
Experience creating test cases and test plans
Jira experience
Strong communication skills
Comfortable working with both hardware and software components

Preferred Qualifications:

POS / Retail Technology experience
Hardware testing experience
Experience testing hardware/software integrations
iOS exposure
Automation testing experience
Kotlin exposure
Computer Vision or AI-related product testing

Day-to-Day Responsibilities::

Perform manual testing of Android-based applications supporting Caper smart carts
Execute feature, integration, and regression testing
Validate hardware/software interactions across:
Payment terminals
Cameras
Computer vision components
Scales
Android applications
Create and maintain test plans and test cases in TestRail
Log and triage defects in Jira
Work closely with engineering, product, and deployment teams
Support retailer rollouts and pilot launches

Environment:

Approximately 80% focused on testing Android core applications
Team supports smart cart technology used across retail environments
Existing automation team reports into leadership separately
Opportunity to contribute to automation efforts in the future, but primary focus will be manual testing
