Our organization is currently looking for Psychiatrists to join the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program at our clinics located in McAllen and Corpus Christi.

The role of the Psychiatrist is integral to a multidisciplinary team focused on general mental health, delivering thorough psychiatric care to Veterans who have been referred to our Mental Health Services.

The Staff Psychiatrist will perform initial psychiatric assessments, follow-up consultations, group therapy sessions, medication management, and crisis evaluations for Veterans. Care modalities will include both in-person interactions and Telemental Health (TMH) services. The incumbent may also provide coverage for other clinical locations within the Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System as necessary through TMH.

In this outpatient role, the Staff Psychiatrist will assess the mental and medical health needs of Veterans, crafting diagnostic and therapeutic strategies to address these needs. Acting as the medical expert within their designated team, the Psychiatrist may coordinate the activities of other health service professionals, tackle issues impacting Veteran care, and offer education to Veterans and their families regarding treatment and management of conditions.

Approximately 95% of the Psychiatrist's time will be dedicated to patient care. Depending on other responsibilities, adequate time will also be allocated for teaching, research, and administrative tasks as needed. Additional responsibilities include:

• Adhering to all relevant VACO, VISN, and Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System policies, rules, and regulations, as well as the Medical Staff Bylaws.
• Providing leadership in the application of clinical practices to enhance organizational processes and improve service-level outcomes.
• Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Maintaining compliance with clinical practice guidelines and collaborating effectively with colleagues.
• Promoting systems that support advanced acute, chronic, and preventive mental health care.
• Engaging in performance improvement initiatives and staying updated on relevant changes.
• Participating in assigned committees.
• Creating a supportive environment for education, training, and research if involved in teaching programs.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
