This position provides medical care to the residents of Rockingham County through Adult Primary Care and Child Health Clinics. Serves as a medical consultant for the Child Health Screening Clinic. The position works under the limited supervision of the Director of Nursing/PHN II.

• Comprehensive knowledge of County and Department policies and procedures.
• Comprehensive knowledge of applicable State laws, rules and regulations governing medical care.

• Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of general medicine and disease states.
• Thorough knowledge of health appraisal techniques and therapeutic procedures.

• Thorough knowledge of the use of standard office equipment and associated software (e.g. Patagonia software).
• Comprehensive knowledge of the use of the equipment required for the position (e.g. colposcopy scope and surgical implant equipment).
• Ability to make arithmetic computations, compute rates, ratios, and percentages. ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians, and associates.

Physical Activities, Visual Acuity, and Working Conditions for this Position

• Balancing - Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
• Stooping - Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
• Kneeling - Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
• Crouching - Bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
• Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
• Standing - Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
• Walking - Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
• Pushing - Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
• Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
• Employee is subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
• Employee is exposed to infectious diseases.

Minimum Education and Experience: Master's degree with coursework in public health, nursing, or related field and considerable experience working as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant or equivalent combination of education and experience. License or Certification Requirements: NC Medical Board Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License upon hire. Valid NC Driver's License.

The Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program is intended to encourage individuals to enter and continue to work full-time in public service jobs. Ford Federal Direct Loan after you have made 120 qualifying payments on those loans while employed full-time by certain public service employers.
