Clinical Pharmacist

Job Title

Duties include but not limited to:

• Plans, directs, and supervises daily inpatient pharmacy operations and clinical pharmacist staff.
• Develops staffing schedules, assigns workload, manages leave, and projects overtime and staffing needs.
• Oversees medication distribution, inventory management, controlled substances, and pharmacy workflow.
• Reviews and verifies medication orders for clinical appropriateness, safety, and compliance.
• Provides drug therapy consultation and recommendations to physicians, nurses, patients, and other healthcare professionals.
• Conducts and supports employee performance reviews, competency assessments, mentoring, and staff development.
• Assists with recruitment, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and training of pharmacy personnel.
• Develops, reviews, and updates inpatient pharmacy procedures, operational plans, and policies.
• Monitors compliance with VA, regulatory, quality, safety, and pharmacy practice standards and initiates corrective actions when needed.
• Coordinates medication error reviews, adverse drug event reporting, allergy screening, and drug interaction monitoring.
• Assists with formulary management, investigational drugs, sterile compounded products, and Schedule II controlled-substance distribution.
• Resolves operational problems, employee concerns, complaints, and workflow issues affecting inpatient pharmacy services.
• Plans and participates in continuing education and training for pharmacists, technicians, residents, students, and volunteers.
• Performs inpatient clinical pharmacist and dispensing duties as necessary to maintain continuous pharmacy operations.
• Supports patient-centered care and ensures efficient delivery of inpatient pharmacy services across assigned facilities and programs.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 07:30 am to 4:00 pm
