Varied days 6am-6:30pm plus every 6th weekend.

This is a 13-week contract position.

Job Description

Under limited supervision, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care for Med-Surg patients. The RN plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care as directed, ensuring effective communication across shifts and maintaining satisfactory relations with other departments.

Responsibilities

• Provide the best possible nursing care by organizing and directing nursing functions, including direct patient care.
• Maintain confidentiality and a high standard of courtesy while engaging with co-workers, patients, and visitors.
• Administer medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly.
• Evaluate patient/family responses to care and modify the care plan based on responses.
• Document in patient records accurately, concisely, and in a timely manner.
• Participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
• Work independently with limited supervision using the Nurse Practice Act and professional judgment.
• Support and enforce infection control policies and procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Iowa licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• A minimum of 2 years acute care experience.
• Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well.
