Manual Bridge Milling Machinist Position Overview

We seek an experienced Manual Bridge Milling Machinist / Gantry Mill Machinist to set up and operate large-format bridge mills, performing precision milling and boring operations on heavy structural components, managing complex boring tasks, and maintaining tight tolerances.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual bridge mills for structural components, weldments, and large castings
• Perform precision milling and boring operations to tight specifications
• Execute complex boring tasks on large workpieces
• Read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T specifications
• Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools
• Operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment for component positioning and loading
• Optimize speeds and feeds for large-part operations
• Design and implement custom fixturing solutions
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot feed and spindle systems

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years operating bridge or large-format mills
• Proficiency with structural components, weldments, and large castings
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T
• Experience with milling and boring operations on large workpieces
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, depth gauges)
• Experience with overhead crane and rigging operations
• Knowledge of structural steel, cast iron, and aluminum tooling plate

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in machining or precision measurement
• Specific machine brand or control system experience
• Familiarity with laser alignment tools and advanced measurement techniques
• Preventative maintenance and troubleshooting background
