Cross Telephone in Warner, OK is in search of individuals interested in being a part of our Locator team!
Job Summary and Objectives: The Telecom Locator is responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground telecommunications infrastructure using industry-standard locating equipment. This position plays a critical role in preventing utility damage during excavation and construction activities. The Locator will read and interpret utility maps, maintain detailed documentation, and ensure compliance with local and state One-Call laws.
Essential Job Functions:
Accurately locate and mark underground fiber optic and copper facilities using paint, flags, and stakes.
Read and interpret construction plans, utility maps, and as-builts.
Respond to One-Call locate requests (811) in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain records of completed locate tickets and site documentation.
Use electronic detection equipment to identify buried infrastructure.
Communicate with field crews, contractors, and homeowners regarding locate status and field conditions.
Perform daily vehicle and equipment inspections.
Participate in safety meetings and follow all company safety standards.
Travel may be required to service different work zones.
Providing excellent customer service by following the companys customer service standards. Ownership, Professionalism, Troubleshooting, keeping customers informed, and providing customers with an experience beyond their expectations.
Supervisor Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.
Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and spatial awareness.
Proficient in reading utility prints, GIS data, and construction drawings.
Familiarity with locating equipment such as digital locators and inductive transmitters.
Effective communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Frequent walking, kneeling, bending, and use of hand tools.
Work in outdoor conditions including uneven terrain and inclement weather.
Strong concentration and judgment to avoid utility damage.
Ability to handle repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
Certification/License Requirements: Valid drivers license required. Utility locator certification preferred but not required.
Work Environment: Field-based role; work is conducted outdoors in varying weather conditions, near roadways, construction equipment, and pedestrian areas.
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Technical training in utility locating or underground infrastructure preferred.
This position is Safety Sensitive under the Oklahoma medical marijuana law.
Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of management based on the needs of the business.
$20 per hour
