Job Title – Technical Services Engineer

Industry –  Oilfield Service and Technology Provider 

Department – Technical Services

Reports to – Global Tech Services Manager

 

Job Summary

The Technical Services Engineer provides technical and operational support for downhole tools and oilfield operations, including pre-job planning, job modelling, real-time field support, post-job analysis, product performance evaluation and troubleshooting. The position works closely with Operations, Engineering, Product Line and Sales to support successful field execution, investigate operational or product issues, and improve product performance and reliability. This is an operationally focused technical role that requires field support, domestic and international travel, and availability for technical support outside regular business hours as operational needs arise.

Key areas of responsibility

• Provide technical support for NCS downhole tool operations through pre-job planning, real-time field support and post-job performance reviews. 
• Support field trials of new downhole products and technologies and analyze field performance data.
• Prepare technical job models and operational recommendations for internal and external customers using engineering software and internal applications. 
• Liaison with Engineering and Product Line on product field design and required modifications.
• Provide technical support for the Sales and Business Development teams.
• Take lead on assigned NCR investigations and ensure the proper processes and resolution are completed and documented to prevent recurrence.
• Take lead on assigned projects with objectives including product performance improvements, NCS processe improvements, and product cost reduction opportunities.
• Provide hands-on field support and, when required, mobilize to customer locations to assist with or execute field operations.
• Prepare Technical Sheets for Sales and Operations utilizing NCS developed applications.
• Promote safe work practices and higher standards of performance.
• Support and uphold HS&E policies and procedures of NCS and the customer. 
• Align individual goals with NCS’s corporate goals, while adhering to and promoting the NCS Promise.
• Participate in Personal Development for Success (PDS).
• Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university required.
• Previous experience in oilfield operations, which may include but is not limited to drilling, completions, coiled tubing, fracturing, downhole tools, or a closely related technical environment, is strongly preferred.
• Offshore operational experience is an asset.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in continued technical development within the oilfield services industry.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Work with other teams and exhibit effective communication.
• Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent judgement, high level of efficiency & work ethic.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Ability to perform job responsibilities in all weather conditions.
• Perform physical labor, when necessary, in addition to standing or travelling for long periods of time.
• Ability to move or lift 25lbs – 50lbs.

 

Additional Information

• FLSA Status: Exempt
• Employment Classification: Full-time, Regular
• Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, with availability for technical support outside regular business hours, including occasional weekend and holiday support, as operational needs arise.
• Special Equipment: Laptop and any job specific equipment will be provided 
• Travel: Domestic and international travel to various field and office locations required
• Participation in online meetings scheduled to accommodate international time zones may be required.
