Position Overview
The Teaching Assistant will work closely with the lead teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom and playground environment where young children can learn, play, and grow. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and is patient, responsible, and eager to support their early childhood development.
Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom activities and routines
- Supervise and engage children during learning, play, meals, and lots of outdoor activities
- Support children's social, emotional, and developmental needs
- Caretaking is a big part of working with children and you must be able to assist children with toileting needs, including changing diapers
- Encourage positive behavior and respectful interactions
- Assist with classroom organization and cleanliness
- Communicate professionally and positively with teachers, families, and staff
- Follow all preschool health, safety, and supervision policies
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with young children ages 2-4 required
- College level courses in Early Childhood Development (12 units minimum)
- Warm, patient, and nurturing personality
- Dependable and able to work as part of a team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Must meet applicable childcare licensing and background-check requirements
