Qualifications and Skills

Personal

• A clear testimony of faith and devotion to Christ, His Church and His mission
• Life demonstrates Biblical qualities of a shepherd (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4)
• Committed to the authority of the Bible as our source of Truth
• Existing relationship(s) of accountability
• Displays a genuine love and care for people
• Exhibits a genuine desire to help people know Christ and grow in Christ
• A track record of making disciples
• Displays a desire for life-long learning and professional development
• Has a high level of integrity, hard-work and servant leadership

Professional

• Aligned with our statement of faith as displayed on our website (Core Beliefs under the "About" tab)
• Ministry/Theology Degree from an accredited seminary or Bible college preferred
• Competency in communicating the Word
• Ability to shepherd a church body
• Experience in leading ministry teams
• Gifted in teaching and preaching

Responsibilities/Duties

Preaching/Teaching

• Teach the truth of God's Word; primarily expositionally and occasionally topically
• Spend the appropriate amount of time preparing a well taught sermon
• Display the gift of teaching (1 Timothy 5:17)
• Be a leader in prayer and encouragement for the Church

Leadership

• Lead any church staff
• Shepherd God's people and lead them to become fully devoted followers of Christ who mentor other disciples.
• Build relationships with Ministry Staff, Leaders and the church family to better understand the strengths, gifts, and needs of the church.
• Oversee Sunday gatherings to ensure coordination with the worship team, pastoral staff and others involved
• Execute the mission and vision of the church

Pastoral

• Spend a suitable amount of time in the office for accessibility to the church
• Oversee pre-marital and general counseling of the church as needed
• Conduct pastoral visits
• Facilitate weddings, funerals, baptisms, communion, along with other pastoral team members
• Facilitate conflict resolutions among the congregation as needed

About Living Grace Church

• Current staff: Lead Pastor (retiring after 14 years), Associate Pastor, Administrative Assistant (retiring after 23+ years), Director of Worship & Technology (part time)
• Living Grace Church is currently a congregation led organization but is actively studying an elder led structure.
• Average attendance 165
• We have Sunday School at 9:00-9:50 with classes for 2-year-olds to 100-year-olds. Our worship service begins at 10:15.
• Wednesday night activities begin with a meal at 5:30. Our program, which also involves community kids, runs throughout the school year with 55+ pre-K through 8th grade children and 30+ youth participating.
• Church ministries include a Young Adult group, Women's Ministry (Bible studies, mentoring, craft nights and special speakers), a weekly men's prayer meeting, senior adult fellowship, and a freshly formed children's ministry team. Our newest ministry is CareConnect, which seeks to meet spiritual and practical needs of our church family and community. We have an inviting meeting space that includes a coffee bar, which is available for these ministries as well as others to use. We also have a summer softball church league team.
• We are actively involved in and support various local and international missions. We are considering new opportunities to be involved in as the Lord leads
• We are a 150-year-young unaffiliated rural church comprised of 50% families, 30% empty nesters/families without children in the home, and 20% retired. Most of us live within around 25 miles of the church, and our residences are evenly divided between city, rural, and farm locations. Our occupations are a mix of farmers and self-employed business owners, hourly, professional, stay-at-home parents, and retirees.
• Our students attend Inman schools (2A in Kansas) as well as other area public and private schools. We also have families involved in an active homeschool community.
• Located in McPherson County, Inman is a small town of about 1,300 residents. Living Grace Church is located one mile south of Inman and one mile east of Highway 61, 14 miles southwest of McPherson (pop. 14,000), and 17 miles northeast of Hutchinson (pop. 40,000).
