Director Of NursingThe purpose of the Director of Nursing position is to plan, direct and monitor all nursing activities for Pleasant View Nursing Home, establish goals for the nursing department and ensure healthcare policy is followed.Essential duties and responsibilities including the following:Develop and update nursing philosophy, objectives, guidelines and standards of practice. Evaluate resident and nursing staff needs. Consult with nursing supervisors and staff regarding resident's condition and nursing staff concerns during daily rounds.Develop and implement nursing guidelines in compliance with State and Federal codes and regulations including developing information and guideline forms, nursing staff training and education, resident/family communication policy. Monitor or delegate monitoring of nursing guidelines through audits and on-site inspections.Maintain knowledge of current State, Federal and local laws, rules, regulations and ordinances regarding long-term nursing care.Review admissions to determine level of care required. Approve with administrator new resident admissions. Contact referring agency/individual for assessment. Analyze admission forms for accuracy and completeness. Notify Medical Director and/or administrator for potential problems/concerns. Assist social services in determining room assignments/transfers.Perform additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.Supervisory responsibilities:Supervise nursing staff; including recruitment, interviewing potential employees and recommending hires. Coordinate continuing education with nursing supervisors. Evaluate nursing supervisors' job performance. Review all nursing staff performance evaluations. Oversee/authorize discipline/discharge, and transfers.Monitor staffing levels for compliance. Review time sheets. Review nursing staff incident/accident reports. Assign staff to light duty in consultation with administration and personnel. Coordinate nursing guidelines with other departments and services including social services, housekeeping, activities, various therapists, barbers and beauticians.Coordinate restraint and drug reduction for all residents.Review MDSs, quarterly reviews, risk assessments for developing resident problems. Participate in QA process in area of nursing services. Act as resource to staff conducting QA activities.Prepares agendas for weekly professional nursing staff meetings.Participate in State and Federal nursing home surveys and recommend and implement deficiencies correction.Participate in on-call for nursing management problems.Represent nursing staff in community and professional activities. Maintain communication with residents/families and community.Act as resident advocate.Develop long-range nursing service plan. Participate in developing nursing service budget and recommend equipment purchases.Oversee infection prevention program including antibiotic stewardship.Communicate and monitor ancillary medical providers including pharmacy.Ensure facility is up to date with changes in nursing standard best practices.Qualifications:Associate degree or Bachelor's degree or diplomas in nursing, Wisconsin Registered Nurse license with seven years RN experience, including three in a supervisory capacity or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Bachelor's degree and experience in long-term nursing preferred.An excellent attendance record is required.Green County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
