Sales Representative

The Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales by generating quotes, processing orders, and providing exceptional customer service. Key tasks include accurately preparing quotes based on customer specifications, managing customer inquiries and follow-ups, processing sales orders to ensure timely delivery, and collaborating with engineering and production teams to ensure order feasibility. The Inside Sales Representative will also conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and provide feedback to improve sales strategies.

Supervisory responsibilities include none.

Essential job functions include promoting and selling orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach, establishing and maintaining business relationships with current and prospective customers in the assigned territory/market segment to generate new business opportunities for the organization's services, making telephone calls, setting up in-person visits, providing facility tours and showcasing company's capabilities through presentations to existing and prospective customers, generating and preparing accurate quotes based on customer specifications and requirements, identifying and understanding customer needs to provide tailored solutions, collaborating with engineering and production teams to ensure feasibility of quotes, developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective customers, acting as a primary point of contact for customer inquiries, providing timely and effective communication, following up on leads and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the sales process, processing sales orders and ensuring timely delivery of products and services, monitoring order status and addressing any issues that may arise during production and delivery, maintaining detailed reports of sales activities including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems, providing periodic territory sales forecasts, supplying management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new services, working closely with the sales team and other departments to achieve overall company goals, participating in sales meetings and contributing to team strategies for growth, keeping abreast of manufacturing applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising, and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with manufacturing, marketing and technical service areas and industries to identify new opportunities for potential sales, and attending sales seminars, sales meetings or educational activities to stay up to date on the latest developments, trends, and regulations in the marketplace.

Required skills/experience/training include a 2- or 4-year degree in a technical field or manufacturing trade, 3 5 years of sales, sales support, account, or project management experience, knowledge and experience with welding, fabrication and sheet metal solutions preferred, ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the public, demonstrated success in making sound decisions which could have a significant impact on the organization's credibility, operations, and services, ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form, ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, pro rata, percentages, and volume and to apply basic accounting concepts, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with quotas and goals, and must pass a post-employment offer drug screen and background check.

Work environment includes the manufacturing office environment at the Main Plant located in Westbrook, Maine but occasionally travels to customer/potential customer sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Occasionally, this role uses standard production equipment such as power tools and other mechanic hand tools. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Physical demands include remaining stationary at a desk, in a vehicle, work on a computer with occasional interruptions; handle or feel small components. The employee frequently positions self to reach for objects, maintain and operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of computer keyboard, move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee occasionally travels long distances to meet with customers/potential customers and attend events, both in and out of the State of Maine. The employee frequently communicates with employees/customers/potential customers/vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
