A growing wholesale distribution business in Downey, CA is seeking a hands-on Staff Accountant for a direct hire opportunity. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys a balanced mix of accounts payable, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end close support.

The Staff Accountant will support both distribution and retail operations in a multi-entity, multi-location environment. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to contribute beyond transactional accounting, partner with operations teams, improve processes, and gain exposure to broader corporate accounting functions.

This position offers a collaborative, fast-moving environment with supportive leadership, practical training, and opportunities to take ownership of recurring accounting processes. Key Responsibilities

- Manage accounts payable activities, including vendor setup, W-9 documentation, invoice review, coding, approvals, payment processing, and vendor inquiries.
- Prepare and post journal entries, recurring accounting entries, accruals, payroll-related entries, revenue entries, and other general ledger transactions.
- Reconcile bank accounts, vendor statements, balance sheet accounts, intercompany balances, and accounting discrepancies across multiple entities and locations.
- Support month-end close by preparing schedules, recording adjustments, reviewing account activity, and assisting with financial statements and management reports.
- Prepare sales tax filings for operations, reconcile taxable sales to accounting and POS records, and maintain related documentation.
- Partner with internal departments to resolve invoice issues, improve accounting workflows, support audits, and maintain organized financial records.

Compensation and Benefits

- Compensation: $32.00 to $36.00 per hour.
