As a key member of our multidisciplinary design team, you’ll work on high‑visibility projects, mentor junior engineers, and take ownership of your designs from concept through construction.You’ll be supported by a collaborative team, industry‑leading tools, and a culture that truly invests in your growth—while enjoying the flexibility, benefits, and stability of a global engineering firm.Why This Role is DifferentMeaningful impact: Design stormwater and drainage systems that improve safety, mobility, sustainability, and resilience for entire communities.Career growth & mentorship: Lead segments of complex projects, guide junior engineers, and work closely with senior drainage experts who are invested in helping you grow into a Technical Lead / Project Manager.Variety of projects: Contribute to local and national transportation projects, including highways, interchanges, corridors, and alternative project delivery (design‑build, CM/GC) work.Flexible, people‑first culture: Benefit from flexible work schedules, best‑in‑class benefits, and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)—allowing you to share in the company’s success.What You’ll Be DoingYou will be a key contributor in the planning and design of drainage and stormwater systems for transportation infrastructure projects, with responsibilities including:Project & technical designPerform hydraulic and hydrologic analysis for storm drains, detention/retention facilities, culverts, and water quality (BMP/LID) features.Develop storm drain plans, profiles, details, and specifications in collaboration with senior drainage engineers.Apply current DOT/FHWA drainage, hydraulic, and hydrology standards and practices in design.Prepare technical calculations, exhibits, and drainage reports that clearly communicate your design approach.Team leadership & coordinationManage and delegate daily tasks to junior engineers, providing mentorship and guidance on standard engineering practices and use of CAD drainage modeling software.Coordinate with roadway, structural, utilities, environmental, and other disciplines to deliver integrated project designs.Lead the drainage design effort for local projects as well as segments of larger alternative project delivery projects (design‑build, CM/GC).Quality, client interaction, and business supportImplement and champion QA/QC standard practices to ensure high‑quality, buildable designs.Interface directly with clients to address review comments, resolve design issues or constraints, and present technical findings.Support proposal efforts and business development activities by contributing technical write‑ups, level‑of‑effort estimates, and innovative design approaches.What You’ll Bring (Required)Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).Typically 6+ years of related civil engineering experience, with a focus on drainage, stormwater, and/or hydrology.Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) certification and ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license.Experience in storm drain and water quality design on transportation projects (highways, roads, bridges, or related infrastructure).Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and/or Civil 3D in a production design environment.Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly document analyses and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, taking ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables.Ability to work in the Denver office a minimum of two to three days per week.Preferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain in the near term).Experience with CAD and related design software used in transportation projects (Bentley and/or Autodesk).
