Public Health Nurse - I & II

Description of Duties / Essential Functions Under general supervision, performs professional field work in the case management of adult and juvenile parolees during an AM shift; provides counseling and referral services; assists in the apprehension of parole violators and in the transportation of same; monitors movement of parolees; monitors electronic equipment to ensure it is operational; provides assistance to statewide law enforcement agencies, officers of the court and community based organizations. Minimum Requirements Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with a bachelor's degree in the behavioral or social sciences or law enforcement; requires six months professional experience in the area of law enforcement, probation or parole work, or counseling work in a public or private agency or institution whose primary function is the treatment and rehabilitation of committed persons; requires agents to possess and maintain a valid driver's license; elementary knowledge of the policies and directives; elementary knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations governing the operations of the department, particularly as they apply to releasee supervision; elementary knowledge of the social, economic and psychological problems of committed persons; requires ability to qualify with firearms prior to the completion of the initial pre-service training curriculum and annually thereafter in accordance with agency directive and state or federal laws; requires ability to carry a firearm; requires possession of a Firearm Ownership Identification Card.
