Project Engineer - Commercial & Industrial Construction

R. C. Stevens Construction is looking for a Project Engineer to join its team in Gainesville, FL. This is an opportunity to work across the full construction lifecycle, gaining hands-on experience in project planning, scheduling, quality, contracts, procurement, and project delivery.

The role

The Project Engineer will support project delivery, working with internal teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors across quality control, scheduling, permitting, compliance, documentation, and construction methods. You will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, ethically, and in accordance with applicable requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support project planning, work-package development, scheduling, and production benchmarks
• Review drawings and help resolve design conflicts or errors
• Track quantities, productivity, project progress, and material deliveries
• Communicate daily productivity targets to field crews
• Assist with purchase orders, subcontractor agreements, scopes of work, and contract development
• Maintain project logs, correspondence, schedules, procurement reports, and compliance records
• Coordinate submittals and approvals with owners and engineers
• Support the project quality assurance and quality control program
• Lead project closeout activities
• Identify, document, and estimate costs for additional or unexpected work
• Maintain accurate change-order records
• Provide engineering input for the daily job log
• Support environmental and permit compliance requirements as needed

The person

• A four-year degree in engineering or construction management, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience in industrial and/or commercial construction
• At least two years of construction project management experience in the field
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, equipment, engineering, estimating, scheduling, and safety
• The ability to identify and implement solutions to complex technical problems
• Excellent communication, organization, and supervisory skills
• Previous knowledge of Procore is encouraged
• Willingness to travel
• A valid state driver's license and a driving history that meets company standards
• Background checks and participation in the Drug-Free Workplace Program are required
