The Fleet Maintenance Manager oversees a small team responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and upkeep of the organization's vehicle fleet, comprised of 58 Kenworth T880 heavy duty trucks. This role focuses on routine maintenance and high volume emergency repairs while implementing preventative maintenance schedules and standard operating procedures. Utilizing a combination of specialized fleet management software and manual processes, the manager coordinates maintenance activities, manages vendor relationships, and controls inventory to optimize fleet performance and cost-effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular fleet inspections to assess vehicle condition
- Schedule routine and emergency maintenance to minimize downtime
- Coordinate repairs and ensure timely completion of services
- Oversee budget related to fleet maintenance and repairs
- Supervise and support a small maintenance team (1-5 members)
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships to secure quality service and parts
- Maintain inventory controls for parts and supplies
- Generate regular reports on maintenance activities and fleet status
- Implement SOPs and Preventative Maintenance schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance management
- Proficiency with fleet management software and tracking tools
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
- Experience in preventive maintenance scheduling and SOP implementation
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing small teams
- Effective budget management capabilities
- Ability to coordinate with suppliers and vendors efficiently
