Lab Technician: Wet Chemistry & QA Support (2-Year Contract)

Position: Lab TechnicianPrimary Location: East St. LouisSchedule: 2-year contract - Monday to Friday – 40-hour work week. Responsible for performing sample analyses using applicable internal and external analytical methodologies including associated documentation/certification.QualificationsKnowledgeBachelor’s degree in physical science or related field desired. Experience and/or related analytical associate degree may be substituted.CompetenciesAttention to detail, adaptability, self-starter, excellent leadership and communication skills are essentialMust be able to perform work with minimal supervision to achieve a safe, environmentally sound and reliable operationResponsibilitiesFollow standard operating procedures (SOPs)Maintain accurate documentation of analyses performedPerform sample preparation activities which may include but are not limited to weighing, filtering, drying, grinding, digest and extractions.Performs wet chemistry analyses and generate certificate of analyses, where applicableAssist management in ensuring all deliveries meet or exceed customer expectationsPerform minor repairs and preventative maintenance to analytical equipmentAssist in troubleshooting operational quality issuesAssists with inventory management and procurement of laboratory suppliesAssist and serve as a backup for the Chemist as neededPrepare, certify, and package product samples for shipment to internal and external customersOther duties as assignedPhysical Demands/Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential function of this jobEmployee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel or crouchEmployee must occasionally lift and /or move items weighing up to 55 lbsSpecific vision capabilities are required and include the ability to detect slight color changes when performing various wet chemistry color-based titrations.
