The Role

The Retail Media Strategist owns retail media strategy and execution for assigned brands, with direct accountability for media performance and contribution to revenue growth. Amazon typically serves as the primary channel, but this role is responsible for building integrated retail media strategies across relevant marketplaces and retail media networks – including Walmart Connect, Roundel, and emerging platforms.

This is a strategic, hands-on role. The Strategist is expected to build, launch, optimize, and scale campaigns directly, not just manage relationships or review reports. You’ll partner closely with a cross-functional teams to ensure media strategy aligns with broader commercial goals.

Core Responsibilities

• Own retail media performance and revenue contribution across assigned brands.
• Develop full-funnel media strategies across Amazon Sponsored Ads, Amazon DSP, and other applicable retail media platforms (Walmart Connect, Roundel, etc.).
• Build, launch, and optimize Amazon Sponsored Ads campaigns across Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, and Sponsored Display.
• Directly manage Amazon DSP campaigns, including campaigns and order creation, audiences and inventory selection, setting budgets, pacing, and optimizing toward performance goals.
• Activate and optimize campaigns for non-Amazon RMNs where applicable, applying consistent strategy and rigor across platforms.
• Translate business objectives into measurable media plans tied to growth, efficiency, incrementality, and profitability metrics.
• Allocate and reallocate budgets based on growth stage, margin profile, promotional calendars, and competitive dynamics.
• Execute structured testing plans across keywords, bids, placements, creatives, audiences, and programmatic tactics.
• Align media support with retail events, promotions, inventory position, pricing strategy, and broader commercial priorities.
• Present performance insights, testing recommendations, and forward-looking investment strategies to internal stakeholders and clients.
• Partner with Creative, Catalog, Analytics, and Brand Management teams to turn media insights into broader account improvements.
• Maintain campaign hygiene, reporting accuracy, documentation, and process discipline in line with Channel Key standards.

• Retail media strategies are cohesive, scalable, and tied to business objectives.; not siloed by platform.
• Sponsored Ads and programmatic retail media are managed as coordinated growth levers, with each pulling its weight.
• Campaign structures are disciplined, testing is intentional, and optimizations improve performance over time.
• Media investments scale efficiently while staying aligned to profitability guardrails and commercial priorities.
• Clients and internal teams view the Strategist as the authority on retail media performance and activation – across all channels.

Qualifications

• 4-6+ years of hands-on experience managing Amazon Sponsored Ads and retail search campaigns.
• Demonstrated experience building, launching, and optimizing campaigns directly within Amazon Ads.
• Hands-on Amazon DSP experience, including campaign and order setup, optimization, pacing, audience strategy, and performance analysis.
• Meaningful experience on at least one additional retail media platform such as Walmart Connect, Roundel, or similar networks with the ability to apply strategy across networks.
• Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to connect media metrics to business impact.
• Proven ability to operate strategically while also executing tactically and independently.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Seller Central and/or Vendor Central, and campaign management platforms such as Pacvue, Skai, or similar tools.
• Strong communication and presentation skills in client-facing environments.

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
