Summary Processes and files applications for marriage licenses, weapons carry permits, and related filings with the Court. Answers telephone inquiries and assists the public and attorneys by providing information and services. Collects fees and balances daily cash till at end of day. Maintains, scans, and files records of the License Division. Assists Probate Division with processing petitions and maintaining workflow. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Process and file applications for marriage licenses, weapons carry permits, and related filings. Answer telephone calls and assist the public and attorneys. Collect fees; balance daily cash till at end of day. Maintain, scan, and file records of the License Division. Maintain strong communication and interpersonal skills. Assist Probate Division with processing petitions and maintaining workflow. Process probate and administration petitions, applications, motions, and other pleadings filed with the court. Review petitions and applications for completeness and accuracy, ensuring understanding of inheritance under Georgia law and rules of service and notice. Prepare summons, citations, notices, orders, return of service forms, and service documents for civil actions. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of two (2) years in Probate Court or other legal services, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Successfully complete Security and Integrity Training and meet requirements for criminal history/background checks through GCIC. Must have a valid driver’s license. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of laws and procedures governing licensing functions of probate court. Understanding of licensing laws applicable to probate courts. Ability to read, interpret, and understand criminal histories and mental health records for weapons carry license applicants. Ability to communicate with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and other law enforcement agencies and courts as necessary. Maintain certification in Criminal History Security and Integrity per regulations issued by the Georgia Criminal Information Center. Knowledge of the state court system. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and court management software. Basic mathematics and accounting skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with attorneys, staff, and members of the public from diverse backgrounds. Maintain confidentiality and security of private information.
