General Ledger Accountant

The General Ledger Accountant will maintain the Foundation's general ledger by professionally applying accounting principles and practices in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, industry guidelines, current law, and Foundation policies and procedures. The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for maintaining and reconciling financial records on a daily, monthly, quarterly and annual basis to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of financial data in the Foundation's accounting system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
• Assist in the preparation of the Foundation's annual information and tax returns.
• Assist in the preparation for and conduct of the Foundation's independent audit.
• Assist in communications and meeting preparation for the Foundation's Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

• Advanced training in accounting or a related field and/or equivalent experience directly related to professional accounting, auditing, or preparing audited financial statements.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Demonstrated proficiency in automated accounting/financial systems and Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Access.
• Ability to work independently to gather, analyze, summarize and interpret financial data.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage, and execute multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills are needed to interact with various constituents.

Additional Considerations:

• CPA or CPA eligible.
• Experience in nonprofit accounting principles and practices.
• Knowledge and experience working with relational databases.
