Facility Assistant - Summit on the Park (Part-Time)

FACILITY ASSISTANT Summit on the Park Part-Time Pay Rate: $16.80 per hour Required Schedule Monday - Sunday afternoons, evenings, weekends, holidays See what it's like to work as a Facility Assistant! JOB DESCRIPTION DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Facility Assistant is responsible for front-line supervisor duties while acting as a customer service representative and staff support assistant at the Summit on the Park, Administration Building, Village Theater or other assigned facility. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Provides supervision of the overall operation of the Community Center. Responsible for general security of the Summit on the Park or other assigned facility, including any necessary communication with local law enforcement agencies. Maintains accurate daily attendance reports, as well as accident/incident reports. Performs general custodial/maintenance tasks, including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, glass cleaning, dusting and vacuuming as assigned. Performs role of front-line employee to handle conflicts that arise with guests. Responsible for facility promotion and positive public relations through interactions with facility patrons. Performs program setup and teardown as scheduled. Ensures all possible safety measures are observed by guests. Responsible for responding to, communicating and documenting emergency situations, including, but not limited, to First Aid, Severe Weather and Missing Child events. Attends meetings and/or training as directed. Performs other assigned duties as required. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Minimum age of 18 years old. High school graduate or GED required. Some college education preferred. Must obtain CPR/AED and first aid certification within 30 days of employment. CPR/AED and first aid classes are free to Township employees. Certification through an organization approved by Michigan's Bureau of Community and Health Systems, Child Care Licensing division, may also be accepted. Previous experience dealing with the public in a mature and responsible manner required. Some college education preferred. Previous community center or facility operation experience preferred. Knowledgeable about programs offered by Summit on the Park and by Parks, Recreation & Community Services. Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time; must be able to lift and carry tables and chairs and perform general setup. Strong organizational and communication skills (both oral and written) are required. Ability to clearly communicate procedures, problems and policies with fellow employees and the public in a tactful and courteous manner. Ability to respond to emergency situations; must be able to climb stairs to the second level of the facility to assist during emergencies and building evacuation. Must be willing to conform to department uniform policy. Ability to work a variety of shifts, including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays. This is an "At-Will" position.
