The nurse will be responsible for administering chemotherapy to patients. The role includes managing patient care in a mixed general floor with oncology as the primary specialty. The average daily census for this position is 24 patients. The nurse will float as needed within the scope of practice to meet facility needs. A commitment to working every other weekend is required. Preferred skills include accessing and managing ports and performing IV therapy. Experience with adult and geriatric patient populations is essential. The nurse will be expected to recognize and manage side effects of treatment. Patient and family education will be an essential part of the role. The nurse will also be involved in handling body fluids post-chemotherapy and managing cytotoxic spills. This position may require working with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care. The ideal candidate is a dedicated professional who can adapt to changing patient needs.
