Role Overview

As Senior Engineering Manager for the Perception engineering team at Labelbox, you will lead a team that builds easy-to-use and efficient tools that support the development of cutting-edge AI systems like those for generative AI and computer vision.

In this role, you will manage the team’s daily operations, including sprint planning, daily standups, and one-on-one meetings , ensuring smooth execution and continuous progress. You will also contribute technical expertise in full-stack development , guiding the team in building robust and efficient systems.

Collaboration is key—you will work closely with other engineering teams to align on architecture, share best practices, and drive cross-functional initiatives. This role requires a strong foundation in full-stack frameworks .

• Improve developer productivity by ensuring infrastructure, tools, and processes support efficient development while maintaining security, reliability, and scalability.
• Stay at the forefront of technology by keeping up with industry trends, integrating new insights into engineering practices, and contributing to technical documentation to support knowledge sharing.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (Advanced degree preferred).
• Proven technical leadership with 4+ years of experience in full-stack development and 2+ years managing highly technical engineering teams.
• Strong software design and architecture skills, with experience in API development, schema design, etc.
• Expertise in programming languages such as TypeScript and Python, with a disciplined approach to software development focused on testing and quality.
• Hands-on experience with front-end frameworks like React.
• Project management expertise, including experience with agile methodologies and tools like Jira, demonstrating ownership of end-to-end project delivery.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork across engineering, product, and design teams.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, with a proactive, problem-solving mindset and a willingness to dive deep to drive results.
• Bonus: Experience with leveraging large language models (e.g., GPT-4, Gemini) for product development, and working with AI service APIs (e.g., text-to-speech, speech-to-text, translation, transcription).

Labelbox strives to ensure pay parity across the organization and discuss compensation transparently. The expected annual base salary range for United States-based candidates is below. This range is not inclusive of any potential equity packages or additional benefits. Exact compensation varies based on a variety of factors, including skills and competencies, experience, and geographical location.

$220,000—$250,000 USD
