Site Coordinator - Job Description

Reports to: The Before and After School Child

Care Program County Coordinator

Nature of Work: The Site Coordinator is responsible for supervising and training the assistants in the Before and After School Child Care Program at his/her designated school. The Coordinator is expected to oversee the day to day operation of the program, handle any problems that may arise with staff, parents, children and/or teachers. He/She will also supervise and oversee one of the classes in his/her program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The Site Coordinator must have the ability to supervise and work effectively with other people (this includes, but is not limited to, parents, students, school staff, school administrators, and central office administrators).


He/She must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

He/She must have the ability to communicate orally and in writing.

He/She must have a positive working relationship with parents, teachers, students, and all staff members.

He/She must have some background in public or private child care, educational background in child care, and/or experience working with school age children.

He/She must be able to follow, implement, and maintain the State Guide lines for Child Care Centers in North Carolina.

Required Training: CPR (every two years), First Aid (every two/three years), BSAC (one time only), SACERS (one time only), Playground Safety (one time only), Fire Safety (yearly) and twenty credit hours of classes as required by the State.

Other work duties:

• Work with the Principal and County Coordinator to provide a safe, orderly, and caring learning environment for the children.
• Supervise the Before and After School Child Care Assistants
• Supervise the children
• Maintain and enforce our discipline policies
• Provide tutorial assistance during homework time. (Answer questions, check the work & etc.)
• Provide a curriculum that includes creative and fun learning activities. There should always be at least four activities each day, not including snack.
• Participate in and encourage physical activities.
• Take attendance each morning and afternoon
• Monitor the sign in/out sheets
• Follow the established procedures for purchasing (order/purchase supplies within approved budget)
• Prepare necessary paperwork to be turned in to the County Coordinator on a monthly basis, such as: Regular Attendance Sheets, DSS Attendance Sheets, Sign in/out sheets, fire drill, playground inspection, and etc.
• Organize and plan activities for Early Release Days and Teacher Workdays.
• Assist in setting up before the children arrive and cleaning up in the afternoon when the children leave.
• Be sure the building/school is opened up correctly and alarm cut off in the mornings and the building is locked up correctly with the alarm activated in the afternoons.
• Other duties assigned by the County Coordinator.
