Feedlot Foreman

Front Range Cattle Company is a family-owned, progressive cattle feeding operation in McClave, Colorado (approximately 15 minutes from Lamar). Our 20,000-head feedyard is committed to excellent cattle care, efficient operations, and continued improvement. Located in southeast Colorado, we provide custom cattle feeding with access to quality grain and forage ingredients and support from a professional nutritionist and veterinarian.

We are seeking an experienced, energetic Feedlot Foreman to oversee daily feedyard operations and help our crew perform at its best. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will coordinate work across our Cattle, Feed, and Yard Maintenance departments. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a strong communicator who understands commercial cattle feeding, takes pride in animal health and performance, and can keep a busy yard running efficiently in all weather conditions.

What You’ll Do

• Lead daily crew operations: Schedule, assign, and supervise the work of pen riders, cattle health personnel, feed truck drivers, and maintenance staff.
• Coordinate across departments: Walk the yard daily, communicate priorities, and ensure cattle processing, herd health, feeding, bunk management, feed mill operations, and maintenance teams stay aligned.
• Oversee cattle health: Monitor pen rider effectiveness, support accurate diagnosis and treatment according to established protocols, and ensure complete and accurate treatment records.
• Support feed and bunk management: Work with the General Manager to monitor bunk reads, feed delivery schedules, and consumption patterns to maximize cattle performance and minimize feed waste.
• Maintain cattle care standards: Uphold Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) standards and low-stress cattle handling practices throughout the feedyard.
• Promote a safe workplace: Enforce safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements across departments.
• Coordinate yard maintenance: Organize routine pen scraping, fence repairs, water tank cleaning, and machinery upkeep with the maintenance crew.
• Keep operations moving: Identify issues, adjust daily priorities, and communicate with the General Manager to address cattle, crew, equipment, and weather-related needs.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 3–5 years of progressive experience in a commercial feedyard or feedlot.
• Previous supervisory or feedlot foreman experience strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate a diverse crew across multiple departments.
• Thorough understanding of cattle health, processing, doctoring, and low-stress cattle handling.
• Familiarity with cattle feeding, bunk management, and daily feedyard operations.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to use livestock tracking software and maintain accurate records.
• English/Spanish bilingual skills are a major plus.
• BQA certification preferred.
• Ability to work extended hours outdoors in southeast Colorado conditions, including summer heat and winter winds.
