The Senior Finance Consultant plays a key role in enterprise-wide budgeting, forecasting, and margin analysis, providing leadership with clear financial insights and actionable recommendations. This position develops and maintains financial models and reporting tools that enhance visibility into revenue, gross margin, and operating expense trends, while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of core financial planning processes. The role partners closely with operational and commercial teams to understand cost drivers, pricing dynamics, and profitability trends across customer, product, and supplier segments.

Responsibilities

• Support enterprise-wide budgeting activities, including revenue planning, gross margin expectations, and operating expense targets.
• Coordinate recurring forecast cycles and assist leadership with updates to financial outlooks throughout the fiscal year.
• Analyze actual financial results against budget and forecast expectations, identifying key drivers impacting profitability and overall business performance.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain financial models and reporting tools to improve visibility into revenue, margin, and expense trends.
• Monitor gross margin performance across customer, product, and supplier segments, highlighting risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Partner with operational and commercial teams to understand cost drivers, pricing dynamics, and profitability trends, and translate findings into financial insights.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial analyses for management, providing clear, actionable recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of budgeting, forecasting, and margin reporting processes through ongoing review, validation, and continuous improvement.
• Document planning methodologies, reporting procedures, and financial analysis processes to support consistency, scalability, and knowledge sharing.
• Create and distribute ad hoc analyses related to profitability, pricing, budgeting, forecasting, and operational performance in response to leadership and business needs.

Essential Skills

• Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify key drivers of performance.
• Hands-on experience with budgeting processes, including revenue, gross margin, and operating expense planning.
• Proficiency in margin analysis, including monitoring and evaluating gross margin performance across multiple segments.
• Experience in financial reporting, including preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports and analyses.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A) or finance.
• At least 2 years of experience supporting budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Ability to develop and maintain financial models and reporting tools to support planning and decision-making.
• Strong communication skills to present financial insights and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional teams.
• High attention to detail and commitment to ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data and reporting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working closely with leadership teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy.
• Background in partnering with operational and commercial teams to understand cost drivers and pricing dynamics.
• Ability to document and standardize planning methodologies, reporting procedures, and analysis processes.
• Comfort with performing ad hoc analyses related to profitability, pricing, budgeting, forecasting, and operational performance.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly make an impact in a dynamic environment and contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes.

Work Environment

This role operates in a hybrid work environment, with three days in the office and two days working from home each week. All team members are in the office on Wednesdays, and the other in-office days are selected by the employee. The office is clean, modern, and offers comfortable workspaces designed to support focused analysis and collaboration. The position provides flexibility in start and end times within the workday, allowing for a degree of schedule autonomy while maintaining alignment with business needs. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Chanhassen, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $55.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
