Secondary Dean of Students

Campus Description: Bartlett is a rural school district with 450 students. We are located near Temple, Austin, Georgetown, and Round Rock. Our Secondary school enrollment hovers around 235 students. BISD is a TIA (Teacher Incentive Allotment) and a Hybrid District. Primary Purpose: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience Positive attitude towards students, staff and faculty Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication (written and verbal) Exceptional organization, time management and prioritization skills Background in Secondary School. Application Requirements: Valid Texas Education Agency/State Board for Educator Certification Counseling certificate Knowledge of student appraisal, and career development Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Maintain emotional control under stress Responsibilities Responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to: Work collaboratively with the Junior High and High School in support of operational and strategic goals. Collaborate with school administrators in support of student well-being. Supervise and direct the attendance secretary's work. Track College, Career, and Military readiness. Provide quarterly attendance reports and schedule parent meetings when student absences hit identified thresholds. Communicate with students/parents regarding degree plans. Assist students with FAFSA, TSI testing, SAT testing and scholarship’s. Support faculty in managing classroom issues as needed Communicate clearly, effectively, and in a timely manner with faculty, students and parents as appropriate regarding student matters. Proactively work to support a positive, balanced, and healthy student culture. Support 9th-grade students and families in the transition to high school. Oversee and communicate student leadership opportunities and engagement Oversee and develop structures in support of student clubs and student-driven organizations Ensure appropriate supervisory staffing and structures for students throughout the school day Collaborate with the school security team in support of campus safety Will have a successful history of working with young people and parents, be fully committed to the development of a well-rounded student, and have a history of professional interaction patterns with colleagues and parents Maintain strict confidentiality as appropriate with regard to sensitive information Oversee and manage student attendance data and communicate with families when appropriate. Assist in periodic review of the student family handbook and help to communicate updates within the community. Oversee all aspects of student life, and work collaboratively with the events team in support of safe and successful student events.
