Grocery Clerk

Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to meet their needs. Check product quality to ensure freshness; review “sell by” dates and take appropriate action. Provide customers with fresh and non‑perishable grocery products they have ordered. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise. Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines. Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained, and temperature logs are kept. Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to questions, making suggestions. Create an environment that welcomes, values, and appreciates customers. Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions for management. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate manager of items needing repair. Notify management of customer or employee accidents. Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment. Manage conflict reasonably, non‑confrontationally, and cooperatively. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues. Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Minimum Position Qualifications Customer Service skills. Effective communication skills. Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
