Basic Job Functions: Nucor Business Technology (NBT) is seeking an AI Solutions Automation Engineer to lead the design and development of AI-powered automation and testing solutions for the software delivered to our steelmaking divisions. This role is primarily focused on building intelligent test automation frameworks, AI-driven quality assurance pipelines, and automated MDM solutions - leveraging machine learning and generative AI to eliminate manual effort across the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate is deeply hands-on with test automation and AI/ML tooling, capable of building scalable frameworks for test data generation, autonomous test execution, and continuous quality validation. They will partner closely with developers, data teams, architects, and business stakeholders to embed automation at every stage of delivery - from development through production support. Basic Job Functions: Nucor Business Technology (NBT) is seeking an AI Solutions Automation Engineer to lead the design and development of AI-powered automation and testing solutions for the software delivered to our steelmaking divisions. This role is primarily focused on building intelligent test automation frameworks, AI-driven quality assurance pipelines, and automated MDM solutions - leveraging machine learning and generative AI to eliminate manual effort across the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate is deeply hands-on with test automation and AI/ML tooling, capable of building scalable frameworks for test data generation, autonomous test execution, and continuous quality validation. They will partner closely with developers, data teams, architects, and business stakeholders to embed automation at every stage of delivery - from development through production support. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design, build, and maintain AI-powered testing automation agents that autonomously generate, execute, and evaluate test cases as an in-line part of the SDLC - integrated into CI/CD pipelines via tools such as Azure DevOps, Tosca, K6, or Playwright.
- Build scalable, ML-driven test data generation frameworks based on real steel manufacturing process data, enabling realistic and repeatable test scenarios across enterprise systems.
- Design and deploy automated MDM validation pipelines that use AI/ML to detect anomalies, enforce data quality standards, and reduce manual master data effort across divisions.
- Develop and deploy production-ready AI solutions - including agentic workflows, data pipelines, and intelligent automations - that eliminate manual, repetitive processes across testing, MDM, and solution support.
- Provide post-launch support including monitoring, defect triage, and iterative improvement of automated frameworks; deliver documentation and knowledge transfer so solutions can be maintained and extended by others.
- Partner with developers, data teams, architects, and business stakeholders to continuously expand automated test coverage, improve data quality, and align automation with NBT delivery standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field, OR equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in test automation, QA engineering, or AI/ML development.
- Prior hands-on experience building AI or ML solutions that scale in a production environment.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing automated test frameworks (e.g., Tosca, K6, Playwright, or similar).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and source control tools such as Azure DevOps and Git.
- Data analysis experience using structured and unstructured data from a variety of enterprise sources.
- Experience working with and testing software solutions such as Oracle EBS, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, PSI, Manufacturing Execution systems.
- Hands-on experience with AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Co-Pilot, Codex.
- Experience in utilizing and deploying modern data architecture including tools such as Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, Informatica, IICS, and Databricks.
- Experience working with a fully integrated SLDC including tools like Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD, and testing automation software such as Tosca, K6, Playwright.
