Directs, coordinates, and monitors the work of volunteers.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelops, organizes, implements and evaluates the programs and services which are offered for the senior programDetermine program needs through target group assessmentPlan and coordinate special events to enhance the quality of life for senior participants.Supervise volunteers to assist with the needs of the senior program.Drive passenger vans to and from various senior center activities and programs.Plans and coordinates special senior events such as Thanksgiving Luncheon, field trips, and social activities.Organize and provide quality services in a cost-effective mannerWork flexible hours, including some evenings and weekendsObtain first aid/CPR certificate within 6 months after hire datePerform other duties within the scope of the positionQualificationsEducation RequirementsTwo years of college, business school, or specialized education focused on seniors. Experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.Preferred Work ExperienceTwo years' experience as a recreation leader or related experience in a public or private recreation program involving the planning, scheduling, implementation and supervision of recreation programs for senior citizens; or substituting successful completion of college level course work in recreation, physical education, gerontology, or a related field for the experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.Other QualificationsMust understand Senior citizen programming-philosophies, principles and practices.Must have an understanding of Community resources available for older adults.Must be able to plan and organize recreation programs for older adults.Must be able to work well with older adults.Communicate and express ideas effectively, both verbally and written.Must have a valid driver's licenseAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or protected veteran status and will not be discriminated against on the basis of disability.
