RN Emergency Department

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at a Level II Trauma Center is responsible for providing expert nursing care to patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This role involves managing trauma, pediatric, STEMI, and stroke cases, ensuring timely and effective interventions. The nurse will perform patient assessments, administer medications, utilize EPIC charting, and collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional emergency care. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care for emergency patients including trauma, pediatric, STEMI, and stroke cases.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Document patient care and clinical information accurately using EPIC electronic health records.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide life-saving interventions.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, Joint Commission standards, and trauma center protocols.
• Participate in ongoing education and training including ENPC and TNCC courses.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse license in California.
• BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of emergency room nursing experience in a Level II trauma center or higher.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Current ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certification.
• Current TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) certification.

• Work environment includes a Level II Trauma Center with high patient acuity and rapid response scenarios.
• Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress emergency setting.
• Compliance with trauma, STEMI, and stroke center protocols is essential.

Scheduling:

• Varied shift schedule including day, evening, night, weekends, and holidays as required by the emergency department.
• Shift assignments based on departmental needs and patient volume.
