Machinist/Fabricator

The Opportunity Job Title: Machinist/Fabricator. Category: Service Contract Act. Time Type: Full time. Minimum Clearance Required: Secret. Employee Type: Regular. Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 25% (Continental US). Responsibilities Responsible for mechanical component fabrication. Knowledgeable of applicable processes and standards covering parts machining, and fabrication. Interface with Mechanical Engineers and Designers on fabrication methods and processes. Perform manual tasks such as metal cutting, grinding, sanding, filing, and material removal and application of various solutions. Able to work independently and as part of a team, comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights. Maintain and adhere to operational procedures and work instructions, follow work orders, assist with preparation of reports and documentation, follow test procedures and record results. Qualifications US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Proven problem‑solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Use of basic powered and hand tools required. May be asked to lead a small project team, provide guidance to new or entry-level employees. Machine shop equipment operations: vertical mill, lathe, CNC, band saw, shear, press brake, hydraulic press, drill press, metal saw. Requires experience and job knowledge of machining and fabrication and procedures obtained through prior work experience or education. Minimum of five years’ experience. Vocational or technical education is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) and AutoCAD. Physical abilities: use arms, hands, fingers to operate tools and equipment. Standing, walking, moving, climbing, bending, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, pulling. Ability to focus on items less than 20 inches away, see in three dimensions and distinguish colors. Desired GTAW/TIG welding. GMAW/MIG welding. Shop fabrication. Steel fabrication. Pay Range Position covered by SCA. Minimum hourly wage: $25.48. Pay and benefits meet or exceed the minimum required amounts as per wage determination.
